April 2010 Wrap-Up and some plans for May

April was quite an eventful month what with the National Poetry Month (US), the Read-a-thon and the BIP Bingo Assignment.  I read 10 books in April.

  1. The Stone Virgins by Yvonne Vera
  2. The Time of the Doves by Merce Rodoreda
  3. African Love Stories edited by Ama Ata Aidoo
  4. The Dumas Club by Arturo Perez-Reverte
  5. Sugar by Bernice Mcfadden
  6. Damballah by John Edgar Wideman
  7. God Dies by the Nile by Nawal el Saadawi
  8. The Cry of Winne Mandela by Njabulo Ndebele
  9. Quicksand by Nella Larsen
  10. House of Day, House of Night by Ogla Tokaczuk

I’m behind in my reviews and will catch up in  the coming weeks.  I haven’t had time to firm up any reading plans for May.  I have finished Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel and I’m now reading The Solitude of Prime Numbers by Paolo Giordano. It seems the poetry I selected to celebrate National Poetry Month (US) was a success so I will feature one Poem of The Week on the blog going forward.

  1. I’m glad you decided to feature one poem a week :-).

I’m curious to hear what you thought of Wolf Hall, but also all the other books that are still awaiting your review. And I hope Solitude.. doesn’t disappoint.
