Gimme an M: Cheering for the Read-A-Thon

The October Read-a-Thon begins tomorrow.  I participated in the April event and had a whale of time.  Alas, this time I cannot participate as a reader since I can’t pawn off my precocious 4-year-old.  But I have signed up as a cheerleader ;).  I’ve been assigned to Team Satire and will be cheering for bloggers and readers whose names begin with the letter M.  I do hope to sneak in some reading over the 24-hour period.

Now a plea from the cheerleading team to read-a-thon readers:  Please disable word verification on your blogs for the day.  It will make it easier for the  team to do its work to support over 300 readers.  Thanks.

If you are interested in signing up for the read-a-thon or are curious about the event, then please check out the blog at Dewey’s Read-a-Thon. Now I’m off to create some cheesy cheers.  See you ‘M’s, and happy reading to those who’ve signed up.

  1. I tend to spend a lot more time cheering than reading during readathon! It’s just so much fun.

Hope you are enjoying it too!

  2. Too bad you couldn’t join in as a participant today but glad to have you as a fellow cheerer. 🙂
I definitely have spent more time on the computer than reading but that’s ok. It’s been fun to visit some new blogs, and to cheer everyone on.

    • Cheering has been so much fun but I have missed the opportunity to read. Hope to participate as a read and a cheerleader the next time around.

  3. I”m feeling doubly lucky that you’ve been cheering me (and Mister BIP, too) on for this Read-A-Thon so enthusiastically, as I hadn’t noted your site before and now realize that we have some favourites in common; I’ve subscribed, and now look forward to hearing more from you after this bookish weekend as well!

  4. Thanks for your comment to my blog! 🙂 I have actually never been to Turku myself, I live in the so called “northern part” of Finland even though it actually is in the middle of Finland… People in the south just call the place i live North! 😀

  5. Thanks for cheering for me! This is totally new to me; and I’m having a blast! I’m definitely going to sign up to be a cheerleader next go-round. But I’ll also want to read; so I’m not sure how that will work.

    • Well, I’m having a great time cheering and visiting blogs that are new to me! Some cheerleaders read for a block of time and then cheer for a block of time.

  6. Completely understand on the 4-yr-old front. I’d be a readathon master if I could just get somebody to puppysit for the day. Alas, no such luck, so just going to have fun with it.

  7. That is neat how the teams are set up. And wow, that is an awful lot of blogs to cheer on!! I am still on the fence. I haven’t participated in a read-a-thon yet because I’ve always had things going on. I am considering skipping everything I should be doing to read all day on Saturday anyway though! Good luck cheering 🙂

  8. Yay! good for you for being a cheerleader. I’m spending Saturday eating junk food at the county fall fair so I will miss the readathon completely but I will be thinking of you 🙂
