“On Last Lines” – Suzanne Buffam

The third poem for the last bunch of holdouts on this read-a-thon as Hour 22 approaches.  It’s a short one; I think we are short on concentration.

On Last Lines

The last line should strike like a lover’s complaint.
You should never see it coming.
And you should never hear the end of it
