Bessie Head would have turned 76 on July 6, 2013. There will be a week-long celebration of her life and her work during the week of July 6-12 here at Kinna Reads.
I will discuss her books and her life. Feel free to join in the celebration. You can read one, two, three or all of her work if you can get a hold of them. And you can post on any day of that week. Kinna great! I have started reading “A Question of Power”….. I am quite fortunate I asked for it in my last orders. It is a novel with a very strong presence and personality…. Unsettling some times. Thanks for the post!

I am glad you are celebrating Bessie Head and would like to be a part. I have been meaning to read something by her and you nudged me to get a copy of When Rain Clouds Gather. I’ll be reading and reviewing it that week. And Butler is an old favorite of mine. Glad you are celebrating her work, too.

I started to read A Question of Power a couple of decades ago but never got further than “I am just an African”. That statement, in and of itself was mind-blowing enough to stay with me over the said decades. However, I will attempt to start it all over again for the celebration. Thanks for doing this!
