Coming up in November

I have quite a few reading events and blogging plans lined up for this November.  They are:

  1. Ghanaian Literature Week – A celebration of  works by authors of Ghanaian descent and also works by authors living in Ghana.  This event will run from Monday, November 14 through Sunday, November 20th.
  2. Blogging African Roar 2011 – African Roar is an anthology of short stories edited by Emmanuel Sigauke and Ivor Hartmann.   The 2011 edition is the “second in a series of annual anthologies” (from the publisher’s blurb) .  I will review each of the fourteen short stories.
  3. Reviews, reviews, reviews – I call myself a book blogger and yet I managed to review only one book in the whole month of October.  I could excuse myself with the usual talk of slumps.  But why bother?  The short of it is that I have a growing backlog of books I want to write about.  So, there will be lots to reviews this November.
  4. A Post-A-Day in November – I can’t believe I’m even publicly committing to publish a post everyday this month.  MJ of Wandering in the Stacks is doing a NaNoWriMo of the Blogging Type.  NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month.  It is a US-led, but now an international, writing extravagance that is held every year in the month of November. MJ, like myself, “has no earthly idea how to write a novel”.  She does, however, want to write more, blog more and hence the commitment.  If you, on the other hand, want to write a first (non)fiction draft of 50,000 words, then do check out NaNoWriMo.

Well, those are the plans.  You are most welcome to join me in one or all of these events.  Happy reading!

    • An update: As expected, I fell a bit by the wayside but Ghana Lit Week had me back on track. It is hard to blog every day, I can tell you that.

  3. I love your goals! And kudos on making the blogging commitment – it is scary to post such a thing publicly. I know we can do it!
