#AWDFbookslam

So the book slam turned out to be quite the jam!  A big thank you to the African Women’s Development Fund and Alliance Francaise for choosing to celebrate the 2013 edition of International Women’s Day in this manner. AWDF’s Theo Sowah said her organization wants  ” to celebrate the strength of African women, the creativity of African women”.  And that the arts are crucial to the feminist struggle for equity on the continent. Feminism+Art=Win.

I enjoyed all the readings. Seriously. A wow mix of profound, funny, interrogating poems and stories.  Here are pictures (taken by @Kwabena)  of the writers and poets:

My best tweet of the night:

DJ Kess of YFm provided music and even I got on the dance floor!  Thanks again to AWDF.

  1. I missed this Kinna. I heard of it too late to make any arrangement for attending. I would have loved to read one of my poems. How is the conference coming up? Do get in touch
