Sherman Alexie has won this year’s PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction for his book, War Dances.

The four finalists are:

• Barbara Kingsolver for The Lacuna
• Lorraine M. Lopez for Homicide Survivors Picnic and Other Stories
• Lorrie More for A Gate at the Stairs
• Colson Whitehead for Sag Harbor
